quote from the presenter “this is what is appealing to students as digital natives”

via web

the speaker volume is WAY too loud for this presentation, it is really an ASSAULT on my ears

via web

@jimohagan i actually like multimedia presentation software like PPT… i think it is overused and abused in many cases tho…

via web in reply to jimohagan

would i want someone to “drive my learning” as an adult learner?

via web

again the presenter said “to DRIVE their [the students’] learning”

via web

i wonder if my kids would like this if they had this available at home?

via web

so is compass learning basically CAI?

via web

@lizbdavis you are welcome! do you know where people who were in the room were in the world? i’d love to know!

via web in reply to lizbdavis

via Twitterrific

@sdembo del.icio.us is like the borg too, but in a good way… mind level connections… wow.

via Twitterrific

@jmaklary i love the voicethread / google earth integration idea!

via web in reply to jmaklary

@jmaklary yes, i am really amazed and enthused by this, esp the web sharing of google maps— very similar to google notebook

via Twitterrific in reply to jmaklary

jakes says “tough luck” on bandwidth - he is going to start hogging….. ;-)

via Twitterrific

jakes has moved from Google Maps to Google Earth - I had no idea you could do so much with Google Maps, the KML file option, maplets, etc!

via Twitterrific

@Digimom this makes a good case for having your own cell phone network wireless card for a preso…

via Twitterrific in reply to BetterAnnaMac

ah yes, digital consumption does indeed drive bandwidth needs!

via Twitterrific

yes, internet is much faster for jakes now!

via Twitterrific

the web connection is being slow for david unfortunately as he shows google maps and CA fire locations

via Twitterrific

@Allanahk yes, it is a great day to be in Texas! I am learning at the feet of one of my educational Yodas, David Jakes! I love Google Earth!

via web in reply to KarenJan

@mguhlin - Miguel, can you give me a ride to the airport today after this session?

via web in reply to mguhlin

“tell me, i forget - show me, i may remember - but involve me and i’ll understand” - YES BUT IT IS UP TO THE TEACHER TO GUIDE!

via web

@woscholar yep, you’re right scott! a bad example can make such an impact… too bad good examples seem less powerful at times…

via web in reply to woscholar

“teachers want the pizazz with less work”

via web

@jmaklary it would be enthralling to see some arm wrestling now

via web in reply to jmaklary

@ssandifer ok… we are a hard audience for sure in the backchannel….

jakes has a GREAT wiki - http://newtools.pbwiki.c…

via web

“with the aeroliner i am engaging students” - “i can immediately bring notice to what i need”

via web

now video audio is working, but it sounds horrible, lots of static

via web

this video demonstration is the epitome of teaching with technology in many cases, unfortunately… video doesn’t work…

via web

video is not working… embarassing

via web

“this video is the epitome of teaching”

via web

“we are going to talk about THE SOLUTION which Smart provides”

via web

jakes asked out loud the important question: WHY are you trying to keep kids active and engaged, and active?

via web

Quizdom: Empowering Intelligent Interaction - isn’t it up to the teacher whether the interaction is intelligent or brain numbing?!

via web

my informal surveys today during the keynote actually worked when i asked folks to raise their hands…. wow. concept.

via web

how many teachers are actually comfortable using this remote control to “drive” instruction at the front of the room?

via web

Movie URL from this morning’s keynote, “A Vision of Students Today” - http://urltea.com/1yzb

via web

i’d like to talk to Plato, but i’m talking about the Greek one

via web

“we can make data talk to Plato”

via web

so is this guy actually saying if we buy a clicker for all the kids at our high school, no one will drop out?!

via web

“we keep the kids engaged and active”

via web

nat’l research council report on us high schools - 3000 kids drop out of high school every day

via web

@djakes that’s a great point

via web in reply to djakes

why is everyone assuming a “lesson accelerator” is a good idea? maybe we need lesson deccelerators? back to the time issue….

via web

so is compass learning basically CAI?

via Twitterrific

@mstina I’m in the main presenter room listening to vendors, right side, 3rd row by the middle aisle, next to david jakes

via web in reply to mstina

do we need to “implement software into the district?”
