@woscholar good call. My relationship with POWWEB is over. I am moving all to SiteGround.

@garystager what’s the link to the post, Gary?

almost done with a full site backup: all 4 mySQL databases and all other files on the server… i’m switching ISPs… already paid the fee..

via web

well, the tech support person on chat didn’t solve the problem or shed any light other than saying “this could be a problem with mySQL”

via web

i am on live chat with a support person now…

via web

my blog host (POWWEB) did some big updates today that affected file permissions— i think that is the root of my problems

via web

at least i got a static page up

via web

well I thought i had figured out my problem was a .htaccess issue, but apparently not

via web

@mguhlin got time for some skype IM help?

via web in reply to mguhlin

@mguhlin if i want to upload my backup mysql, do i just rename that when i upload or do i have to do something to the file to rename?

via web in reply to mguhlin

on my test site that is working with the dashboard, the public website/root doesn’t load anything, but it doesn’t give the can’t connect

via web

i’d rather be giving my full attention to episode 2 of ‘the war’ now that is on…

via web

ah this is frustrating….

via web

the root/public page won’t load at all tho

via web

ok, i uploaded a fresh copy of wordpress to a subdirectory, using my same mysql database - all the dashboard/admin pages work great

via web

@mguhlin thanks for the suggestions— i am trying to reconnect in a temp directory… at least i do have a full backup, that feels good…

via web in reply to mguhlin

then i get the connection error again - strange also i don’t see the usual WP error screen on the root domain/public page, just the dashbd

via web

here’s the strange behavior— when i reset my password in mysql, I CAN get my WP dashboard to come up for a couple of clicks

via web

@aschmitz i’m not familiar with mysql optimize/repair table commands - do you have a link?

via web in reply to aschmitz

@becksintex I like iSafe’s curriculum generally, tho i think the movie “predator” is over the top / not realistic and play up the fear…

via web in reply to lawonga

@bhwilkoff no the databases are different… i did just get a backup with phpmyadmin

via web in reply to bhwilkoff

error is cannot connect to database… ugh. this is when i don’t like being my own tech support….

via web

i reset my pw in mysql, reset pw in wp-config.php - WAS able to get the dashboard up for awhile, but then i get the same error…

via web

i am buffaloed - speedofcreativity.org has been down all day, other WP blogs on the same domain are up - can’t resolve the problem…
