@kellycroy I don’t know… it’s something written into the current EPUB specification right now. Maybe they didn’t think video would be huge

via Hootsuite in reply to kellycroy

I’m filling out the iTunes Connect Online Application http://ow.ly/5McUS so I can publish the EPUB eBook on iBookstore

via Hootsuite

@mhammons yes, it seems video does not have a quota in the EPUB spec, just images. Interesting.

via Hootsuite in reply to mhammons

@teacher24_70 It appears to be 11 MB per chapter of image data. Videos don’t count in that quota from what I can tell.

The 11 MB of images per chapter EPUB limit was my problem, I moved some sections to new appendices & all is now weedia

via Hootsuite

My missing images are at the end of 2 different chapters, so I’m working on reducing some more image file sizes…

via Hootsuite

Partial good news… I’m pretty sure the missing image issue for my exported EPUB from pages has to do with the 11 MB chapter data limit

via Hootsuite

@lfp72 OK, that is a good tip… you have to set the image file name before inserting in Pages tho, right? You can’t change the name later?

via Hootsuite in reply to eyeonaxs

@lfp72 can you assign the alt text names for images in the Pages app? I’ve done that on webpages. How do you do that in Pages?

via Hootsuite in reply to eyeonaxs

@lfp72 I like Dropbox, but my EPUB eBooks is 200 MB so that takes awhile.. direct transfer over local wifi via Air Sharing is faster

via Hootsuite in reply to eyeonaxs

@Don_Watkins yes, I do like the iOS Bump app for transferring stuff between mobile devices. I use Air Sharing to transfer laptop to iPad

via Hootsuite

The Air Sharing app is SO wonderful for directly transferring EPUB eBooks to an iPad over wifi to proof in iBooks http://ow.ly/5M65J

@maprice305 ok thanks - I’ll check that too.

@milobo thanks for sharing that 11 MB image limit per chapter too… I’m trying the “reduce file size” command now…

via Hootsuite in reply to milobo

@kellycroy yes, thanks. I do have them all inline… none float :-)

via Hootsuite in reply to kellycroy

@kathyschrock I’m going to try to reduce filesize on a backup copy of the EPUB and see if that helps..

via Hootsuite in reply to kathyschrock

@kathyschrock ok, that is very good to know, I didn’t know about the un-encoded image data limit per chapter. That very well could be it…

via Hootsuite in reply to kathyschrock

@digitalteacher I’ve used mostly JPGs but some PNGs too. I’ve tried converting the missing ones to different formats, with different apps…

via Hootsuite in reply to digitalteacher

@mpondu thanks - sounds like that person is having a similar problem to mine. No solution is offered tho…

via Hootsuite in reply to mpondu

@mhammons I don’t know. I think I have the standard “body” selected for all my images. But 5 don’t show up for some reason.
