JonnyCurriculum @dankrutka @wfryer We need to focus on making those Ts more visible to build others. Teachers learn from teachers, side-by-side.

amajames1212 A5 I don’t think reform is why Ts r getting out of Ed. It’s all the changes at once. Especially the quantative part of TLE.

via HootSuite (retweeted on 8:40 PM, Sep 1st, 2013 via HootSuite)

@dankrutka right - the basic flaw in is it assumes school quality requires new standards instead of gr8 Ts

via HootSuite in reply to dankrutka

Gotta run - I’ll check the @Storify - thanks @BenAllenKOSU for all your gr8 articles last week & facilitating tonight!

@James409Jason I agree 100% We need 2 define a constituency to support public education that isn’t focused on 1 party or personality

via tchat.io in reply to James409Jason

A4: There are many ideas in (apart from high stakes testing) which are VERY good & needed. Raising the bar, digital writing…

via tchat.io

A4: is a nationwide standards movement that has significant support from textbook publishers. They are a powerful lobby.

via tchat.io

@thnorfar adios, we shall miss you :-) I’m going to have to run too :-(

via tchat.io in reply to thnorfar

@ChrisParadise I’d love to get together at some point in Sept & share ideas about Scratch, even come teach w/ your kids sometime :-)

via tchat.io in reply to ChrisParadise

A3: Where is the impact for the instructional coaches @oksde has hired & renewed for another year? I haven’t seen or heard much…

via tchat.io

A3: I definitely rely on innovative educators sharing resources & strategies related to constant idea sharing via Twitter!

via tchat.io

@ChrisParadise hey congrats on your recent STEM after-school program grant! Woo hoo! So excited for you!

via web

@JonnyCurriculum that is SUPER awesome. I’d love to do an audio podcast with you some time to learn more & share that with others!

via tchat.io in reply to JonnyCurriculum

@d_mulder I was in Maine last week working with districts adopting iPads, they’ve spent millions on shared lesson plan databases…

via tchat.io

@d_mulder I think we tend to focus on databases for that, but there are SO many examples of failed teacher lesson plan databases

via tchat.io in reply to d_mulder

@dougeb00 I’ve been working a lot with my wife @sfryer helping her create all her lesson plans in Gdocs, it’s a big shift but good!

via tchat.io in reply to dougeb00

A2: How can we encourage our pre-service teacher educators to develop more capacity in Ss to develop & publicly share lessons?

via tchat.io

@dougeb00 I love that idea 2. Do we have any examples in Oklahoma yet of students co-creating a textbook/curriculum w their teacher?

via tchat.io in reply to dougeb00

@d_mulder Super! Is that science text/curriculum still available online? (link?)

via tchat.io in reply to d_mulder

@chards74 we need our state content area directors to embrace OER & write it into grants & programs.

via tchat.io in reply to chards74

@d_mulder what strategies have you seen to be most successful in helping Ts shift away from a curricular focus on the textbook?

via tchat.io in reply to d_mulder

A2: We need to be focused on creating shared OER (open educational resources) in all content areas to address our curriculum needs!

via tchat.io

A2: Not a lot. There’s a gr8 deal of curricular buzz word usage. The shift to higher order thinking & student products is still rare

via tchat.io

@jdeek Q1: How do you communicate that implementing isn’t like switching a light on?

via tchat.io in reply to jdeek

@chards74 welcome! :-) Q1” How do you communicate that implementing isn’t like switching a light on?

via tchat.io in reply to chards74

@thnorfar @d_mulder I think encouraging the public sharing of curriculum & lessons is key. I’d start with Google Docs

via tchat.io in reply to thnorfar

@thnorfar @d_mulder yes, paradigm that Ts are supposed to simply deliver a textbook chapters 1 to the end is a big challenge

via tchat.io in reply to thnorfar

A1: Education & learning is never a matter of simply “turning a light on” - I haven’t heard anyone make an assertion that is

via tchat.io

A1: Whether it’s adapting to any new mandate like or TLE, the key is to emphasize taking small steps forward.

via tchat.io
