@txeduchat thanks for the opportunity to be here! I’m learning a lot - my app wish list is growing :-)

Q6 What are the main obstacles you see for students using iPads to create multimedia portfolios of work?

via Twubs

SSears4th are you talking about Poppet or Popplet?

via Twubs

@valibrarian super, please keep me in the loop as you do & they hopefully reply! :-)

via Twubs in reply to valibrarian

A5 if you’re creating movie trailers w/ students using iMovie for iPad, use these gr8 PDF storyboards wfryer.me/3ys

via Twubs

A5 I generally still use paper outlines for storyboarding, even for iPad media projects…

via Twubs

@mrs_garneau thanks for mentioning Draw and Tell & Little Bird Tales - you’re the 1st person to share those tonight!

via Twubs in reply to mrs_garneau

@theipodteacher not yet, ‘touchcast app’ is on my ‘play with soon list’ :-)

via Twubs in reply to theipodteacher

@carrion_creates yes it could… Popplet’s free version lets you create 1 free mindmap, right?

via Twubs in reply to carrion_creates

OK not much at all on Q5 with project planning… maybe that’s an area for app developers to work on?!

via Twubs

@valibrarian Please contact the MinecraftEDU team about that, I’m sure they’d consider developing it!

via Twubs

@teachingwithmac that is gr8! What has the student feedback been like so far?

via Twubs

Anyone using mindmapping iPad apps for multimedia project planning / storyboarding?

via Twubs

A5 I haven’t found a good FREE storyboarding app for iPad yet. Anyone else?

via Twubs

@wfryer ok nice, I’ll check that one out too!

via Twubs in reply to wfryer

Any more suggestions for Q5: What are your favorite resources for iPad multimedia project planning, storyboarding, etc?

via Twubs

jaherbel at every teacher was encouraged to create an twitter account and use them as much as possible, PLN, classroom tweets

A5 Toontastic was mentioned earlier as a good app for teaching Ss the story arc

via Twubs

@nathan_stevens the storyboarding app you like is named “storyboard app?”

via Twubs in reply to nathan_stevens

@robinwb I agree ColAr is cool & enthralling, but I’m wanting apps that let students create more… not watch. Is that fair?

via Twubs in reply to robinwb

@Tom_Kilgore Fantastic! Plz connect those Ts w @MsLaidler @MsMagiera & team in Chicago! gr8 iPad social media use w Ss!

via Twubs in reply to Tom_Kilgore

Q5 What are your favorite resources for iPad multimedia project planning, storyboarding, etc?

via Twubs

@bruscos excellent -thanks. I’ll add 30 Hands to my ‘apps to play with soon’ list :-)

via Twubs in reply to bruscos

@JenniferMiller9 are you seeing many Texas Ts & Ss use those features to publicly share media projects?

via Twubs in reply to JenniferMiller9

@nathan_stevens my wife @sfryer & I have used colAR app in several Ss lessons with AR this year

via Twubs in reply to nathan_stevens

@Tom_Kilgore that is awesome - are any using classroom Twitter accounts yet to amplify Ss work links?

via Twubs in reply to Tom_Kilgore

@bruscos @valibrarian Do you like to make Aurasma triggers for media projects made w other apps, or mainly iPad Camera videos?

via Twubs in reply to bruscos

Tom_Kilgore A4: Would list @AmyArista2 & @juliasolnek on the “front lines” with full 4th grade iPad deployment & kids doing amazing things

via web (retweeted on 8:33 PM, Oct 6th, 2013 via web)

A related question to A4: Has “Project Share” in Tx helped the cause of open, public sharing of student multimedia projects?

via Twubs

@bruscos glad to hear about that - what do you use 30 Hands for?

via Twubs in reply to bruscos

@JenniferMiller9 ok but that costs… I agree it can be worth it… I was wondering about the free account limits tho

via Twubs in reply to JenniferMiller9

Q4 What specific Ts & schools do you know who are “doing it” when it comes to sharing student multimedia projects with iPads?

via Twubs

@andreazeitz does the PDF has embedded audio? Wow…

via Twubs in reply to andreazeitz

@AmyArista2 Do you consider a multimedia creation app? What category of app would you say it is in?

via web

@BlueSquareX @Kenya75 I haven’t run into any objectionable photos w @HaikuDeck - but I suppose it’s certainly possible

via Twubs in reply to BlueSquareX

@tericeschneider it’s good iMovie is now free with new iPads! Doesn’t help for older ones tho…

via Twubs in reply to tericeschneider

@JenniferMiller9 A3 I love VoiceThread too! Is the app limited to 3 free stories like the site?

via Twubs in reply to JenniferMiller9

@valibrarian A3 yes, I’ve used @showmeapp as an entry media app with Ts too

via Twubs in reply to valibrarian

@andreazeitz does Story Creator let users record their voices? Export to ePUB?

via Twubs in reply to andreazeitz

A3 I really like starting with @audioboo & narrated art projects w Ts new to iPad multimedia creation goo.gl/tioS6P

via Twubs

@Lisa_Cyr4 articles with that many links overwhelm me!

via Twubs in reply to Lisa_Cyr4

@nathan_stevens ok super, I haven’t heard of or used “Big Nate comix” yet…

via Twubs in reply to nathan_stevens

@bruscos nice. thanks for that - I’ll have to play with Piccollage!

via Twubs in reply to bruscos

Q3 What are your favorite “entry apps” for teachers just getting started creating iPad multimedia with students?

via Twubs

@robinwb I’ve use Comic Life on the Mac but not on the iPad. Cartoon creation can be gr8 for student writing!

via Twubs in reply to robinwb

@carrion_creates yes I have seen the story arc feature of Toontastic - really great for storytelling & literacy!

via Twubs in reply to carrion_creates

@BlueSquareX A2 Why do you like Videolicious so much? I haven’t played with it much yet…

via Twubs in reply to BlueSquareX

@JenniferMiller9 I need to get back to using - it was 1 of my 1st narrated slideshow iOS apps!

via Twubs in reply to valibrarian

@coreybell77 I’m not familiar with Piccollage - why is it gr8 as a media creation tool for iPad?

via Twubs in reply to coreybell77

@Tom_Kilgore I agree @evernote is a fantastic & app, but why would you include it on a media creation short list?

via Twubs in reply to Tom_Kilgore

@nathan_stevens A2 what strip designer apps do you like? I’m not sure I’ve used any yet!

via Twubs in reply to nathan_stevens

MT @KittyHerbel A1: When Ss are creating they are showing what they know. Plus they love using tech & want to share with others.

via Twubs

@tericeschneider A1 yes I agree: “show what you know with media” can be VERY powerful using iPads!

via Twubs in reply to tericeschneider

Q2 What are your three favorite iPad apps for student multimedia creation?

via Twubs

@valibrarian A1 what are some examples of students “entering the global participatory culture” you think are gr8?

via Twubs in reply to valibrarian

@Kenya75 A1 I refer to this as “the ethic of minimal clicks” or steps - fewer (generally) on an iPad to create & publish!

via Twubs in reply to Kenya75

A1 @robinwb can you elaborate a bit on what you’re saying about a “creative threshold” & iPads?

via Twubs

In case you missed it: Q1 What are the reasons iPads should be used by students to create multimedia?

via Twubs

@iPadWells A1 in what ways to you see iPads as imposing fewer restrictions on student learning?

via Twubs in reply to iPadWells

If you’re looking for a good, free browser-based tool for following I recommend ow.ly/pya3l

via Twubs

Also as a tip: you can use “Ts” as an abbreviation for “teachers” and “Ss” for “students”

via Twubs

Remember as we post questions, add the letter “A” in front of the question to indicate which you’re responding to

via Twubs

@robinwb welcome Robin! Do you all have iPads available to use in class where you’re studying?
