@irasocol I’ll be on the lookout for those influences… so far I haven’t detected anything sinister :-) @mcleod @ransomtech

@techsavvyteach Sounds good… Let’s think about what that could look like & not become too burdensome… I don’t want to “podfade” :-)

via Mobile Web (M5) in reply to techsavvyteach

@techsavvyteach we would have to come up with a very clever name for the show…

via Mobile Web (M5) in reply to wfryer

@techsavvyteach it would be fun to do a monthly or twice monthly TWIT style GHO / podcast on news together…

via HootSuite in reply to techsavvyteach

@techsavvyteach are you participating in any regular podcasts at this point?

@ijukes wow - that is rather depressing, is like to hear more. Have you blogged on that yet? Why do they want to constrain innovation?

via HootSuite in reply to ijukes

@ijukes ok I’ll DM you my email! Thanks

via HootSuite in reply to ijukes

A3 I like using @Pocket to save articles I find I want to read in more detail later - also a “Tweet Nest” archive of past tweets

via HootSuite

@ijukes what practical advice can you offer to wean parents off traditional grading & report card expectations in K12 schools?

via HootSuite in reply to ijukes

@ijukes maybe not as broadly & at scale, but yes many will! The formal edu establishment in our nation cannot constrain all innovation…

via HootSuite in reply to ijukes

@daviottenheimer at least he probably wouldn’t be the nightmare “lay judge” that doesn’t vote on any stock issues which every CXer fears…

via HootSuite in reply to daviottenheimer

@techsavvyteach yes - I’m excited too. Along w the model, is part of the PD revolution we need. Wish you could join us!

via HootSuite in reply to techsavvyteach

@daviottenheimer he should judge high school speech / debate tournament, CX & extemp rounds. That restores some of my optimism in that area

via HootSuite in reply to daviottenheimer

@daviottenheimer ah but that’s a big underestimation of the potential of people, including young ones. Critical thinking CAN be nurtured :-)

@jmsprincipal yep, those logistics would certainly be challenging! I’m sure you fine other ways to set a school tone for testing tho

via HootSuite in reply to jmsprincipal

@jmsprincipal I’d don’t advocate for testing assemblies, we have assemblies every day at the start of school tho, tone is set then!

We need 2 constructively direct parent anger over EDU to change our high stakes testing focus. See this VIDEO goo.gl/O9kZpO

JacksonGirl79 A7: I don’t think stress and anxiety can be totally prevented. There will be some due to the severity of HST

via Twitter for iPhone (retweeted on 8:49 PM, Apr 13th, 2014 via web)

@okiewolfe did you read this post by @jmsprincipal yet? goo.gl/Ao9r7G It’s the best guide I’ve found on to date

via TweetChat powered by oneQube in reply to okiewolfe

A7: School & school district culture can definitely play an important role in reducing testing anxiety. Parents can help a lot too!

via TweetChat powered by oneQube

@mrspants19 that sounds like a gr8 idea for stress relief & fun any time of year :-)

via TweetChat powered by oneQube in reply to mrspants19

mrspants19 A6 An hour long kickball game in the sunshine was VERY helpful to reduce anxiety for Ts Ss last Friday after first test day!

via TweetChat powered by oneQube (retweeted on 8:45 PM, Apr 13th, 2014 via web)

@okiewolfe @dena_rogers I agree those things need to be clarified. We need parent groups to advocate for as a right / option

via TweetChat powered by oneQube in reply to okiewolfe

A6: The tone the principal sets in school assemblies regarding testing is very important - can amp up or turn down the anxiety level

via TweetChat powered by oneQube

A6: Laughing together in the teacher’s lounge at lunchtime is the best stress relief I’ve found together w other Ts in my bldg

via TweetChat powered by oneQube

@dena_rogers as a parent & T, I would welcome an educational system which empowered Ts to design assessments instead of corporations

via TweetChat powered by oneQube in reply to dena_rogers

A5: A large percentage of parents in larger school districts will have to of testing for it to make a difference

via TweetChat powered by oneQube

@MrsKnabe @HaselwoodMath @jmsprincipal Did anyone publish an expose of the @oksde Science test cutoff score fiasco last year?

via TweetChat powered by oneQube in reply to MrsKnabe

@idabelangler Do Ss have to take an entire year of Algebra 1 again, or just get remediation so they can pass the test next time?

via TweetChat powered by oneQube in reply to idabelangler

@okiewolfe what have you been told so far by @oksde on consequences? We need to amplify & share that…

via TweetChat powered by oneQube in reply to okiewolfe

@coach57 will stats on opt outs be collected and published by anyone? Would be a good research project for someone…

via TweetChat powered by oneQube in reply to coach57

A5 We should find ways to make the legal & moral aspects of test opting out more widely known. Posts by @jmsprincipal have helped

via TweetChat powered by oneQube in reply to jmsprincipal

@jmsprincipal but the goal & focus of Ts & Ss should NOT be testing, however fast the results are! That’s chasing the wrong rabbit

via TweetChat powered by oneQube in reply to jmsprincipal

ok I had a typo I need to remedy there…

via TweetChat powered by oneQube

@elynnlll the tests don’t need to be high stakes for 3rd grade or any other grade. Sadly our state is following the @JebBush roadmap

via TweetChat powered by oneQube in reply to elynnlll

@okiewolfe Field tests are created to help testing companies improve their tests. They are not designed to help students :-(
