@angmlittle @OStateFanVicki This situation is like the military-industrial complex, the pieces are moving because big players have big money

via Twitter Lite in reply to angmlittle

OStateFanVicki @angmlittle - That can be said for any set of standards with one-size-fits-all testing. Today’s vote did nothing about high stakes testing

@CatherineKU72 thanks for the feedback on @InfuseLearning - have you written a blog post or recorded a video about your experiences with it?

via Twitter Lite in reply to CatherineKU72

@OStateFanVicki @angmlittle I agree - and sad to think of the scarce edu $$$ that will be spent to write new standards…

@drjohnthompson what is the best alternative edu vision to high-stakes accountability you’ve seen written down somewhere?

via Twitter Lite in reply to drjohnthompson

@OStateFanVicki Unfortunately our current educational culture is so toxic it is chasing many away from the profession

via Twitter Lite in reply to OStateFanVicki

@OStateFanVicki We need to put much more emphasis on attracting, supporting, & retaining great teachers in the classroom

via Twitter Lite in reply to OStateFanVicki

@OStateFanVicki We don’t need2 “phase in accountability.” We need to fundamentally shift our educational culture away from high-stakes tests

via Twitter Lite in reply to OStateFanVicki

@OStateFanVicki @angmlittle stds were funded primarily by the testing companies that profit most from our high stakes culture

via Twitter Lite in reply to OStateFanVicki

@djakes Makes you wonder what constitutes their criteria for “healthy?!” Maybe “contributes to our local economy?”

via Twitter Lite in reply to djakes

@fnoschese @angmlittle Exactly. That’s why today’s votes are like a hunter shooting a decoy instead of the duck (testing)

via Twitter Lite in reply to fnoschese

@angmlittle Please do, sounds like a great topic to discuss over coffee :-)

via Twitter Lite in reply to angmlittle

@angmlittle We will be headed in the right direction when our legislators understand & embrace constructive reform

via Twitter Lite in reply to angmlittle

@angmlittle Did you watch the floor debate? An senator said requires third-graders to learn quantum mechanics

via Twitter Lite in reply to angmlittle

@angmlittle We are agreeing on a lot, my point is legislation needs to put an end to the high-stakes testing culture in schools

via Twitter Lite in reply to angmlittle

@angmlittle defining “the real issues” which need to be fixed in this debate would certainly take more than 140 characters :-)

via Twitter Lite in reply to angmlittle

@angmlittle Please encourage our legislators to oppose high-stakes testing. In schools. No bills have been proposed to change this

via Twitter Lite in reply to angmlittle

@angmlittle Some schools have been working 4 years to implement . Repealing now isn’t smart, it’s wasteful of time & $$$

via Twitter Lite in reply to angmlittle

@angmlittle I agree we need to focus on simple ways to improve learning rather than complex mandates.

via Twitter Lite in reply to angmlittle

@angmlittle the #1 thing we need in our classrooms w our kids are gr8 teachers. Sadly we have focused too long on standards & tests

via Twitter Lite in reply to angmlittle

@ClaudiaSwisher @BrickM this is a really important long-term project. I’ve been getting inspired listening to @pasi_sahlberg ‘s book

via Twitter Lite in reply to ClaudiaSwisher

@jcbjr @tomwhitby Ok - thanks for the clarification, I should’ve look back further in the tweets!

via Twitter Lite in reply to jcbjr

@BrickM So what can we do to better educate our legislators about changes that would be constructive rather than harmful?

via Twitter Web Client in reply to BrickM

@jcbjr @tomwhitby HB3399 which passed the & just repeals standards, it doesn’t address high stakes testing

via Twitter Web Client in reply to jcbjr

@OklahomaWatch I think the final vote was actually 32-9, 1 member changed a vote before final tally
