@MsGeekyTeach are you going to have some students present/share projects? That can be “gold” - peers influence peers best!

via erased4838853 in reply to MsGeekyTeach

@MsGeekyTeach I totally “second” that approach, going directly to the kids & parents is best! Teachers will follow the excitement!

@James409Jason when a tipping point like this is reached there’s a lot of ice on “the berg” under the water, if you know what I mean

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason I do not disagree. I’m also removed from the situation so I don’t know lots about their motivations, just hypothesizing

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason even if others believe that, it doesn’t mean everyone should go “fall on their sword” tomorrow over a reading test…

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason The question is more than just this 1 assessment, we are living in a toxic culture myopically focused on high-stakes testing

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason I agree these are big issues. I’ll try to find some time to write a post, hard to express well in 140 characters

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason yes, it definitely is, just like it is for a military commander or business CEO

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason for some people in some contexts, however, there can be higher values than job security which are motivating them

via Echofon

@James409Jason no, we all have to play by the rules if we want to keep our jobs.

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason yes, I agree. That’s what I mean by “they should be ready to face the consequences.” They may be justifiably fired with cause

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason When teachers are willing to take these kinds of professional risks I’d say a new threshold has been crossed…

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason there were certainly many people in the 1960s who disagreed with civil disobedience as a form of political speech too…

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason they also need to be ready to bear the full consequences of their actions, which are likely professionally harmful…

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason I’m not saying I agree entirely with them, but they certainly have a right to engage in these kinds of political acts

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason teachers are capable of engaging in civil disobedience just like any other citizen. Even over a reading assessment…

@James409Jason @ClaudiaSwisher Those choosing to break the rules or laws need to be ready to face the consequences

via Echofon in reply to James409Jason

@James409Jason @ClaudiaSwisher acts of civil disobedience challenge everyone involved.

@tonyvincent @bhwilkoff @datruss worst case is if YouZtube rejects your fair use claim it counts as one strike against your channel.

via Echofon in reply to tonyvincent

@bhwilkoff @tonyvincent @datruss I’ve filed a fair use claim with YouTube previously and it was successful. It was also instructive

via Echofon in reply to bhwilkoff

@tonyvincent @bhwilkoff @datruss whether you get a takedown from YouTube will depend on the preference of the music publisher

@EDmerger That said, I’m not a big @ClassDojo fan. I’m not going to demonize it as a tool or those who choose to use it, however.
