@HoodaMath how would you have students create a narrated slideshow video if their BYOD choice is a Kindle Fire?

via Echofon in reply to HoodaMath

A big disadvantage of BYOD is the discrepancy in available creative tools between different student phones & tablets

via Echofon

jpk38 Q6 What are advantages of BYOD initiatives? Disadvantages?

via Hootsuite (retweeted on 9:47 PM, May 3rd, 2015 via Echofon)

@Artegoz @profrush definitely, personal productivity use is essential. It’s also important to play with media! :-)

via Echofon in reply to Artegoz

kstanton1113 A powerful PD would be to allow those who are hesitant to integrate tech watch those who use it well DURING class.

via TweetDeck (retweeted on 9:46 PM, May 3rd, 2015 via Echofon)

@kstanton1113 amen! All teachers need many more opportunities to observe and reflect on the teaching of others!

via Echofon in reply to kstanton1113

@bnredmond @tntechgal effective tech coaching can be transformative. Everyone can get better working 1 on 1 w a good coach :-)

via Echofon in reply to bnredmond

properly implemented & supported, 1:1 can enable learning to be more customized to the needs of each student than ever before

via Echofon

properly implemented & supported, 1:1 can transformatively empower both students & teachers to create, share, & publish

via Echofon

A5 1:1 can be transformative b/c it provides new common denominator 4 learning. Vision, PD & coaching are essential tho!

via Echofon

jpk38 Q5. What are advantages of 1:1 school wide initiatives? Disadvantages?

@tntechgal @bnredmond remember tech integration usually follows predictable stages. SAMR https://t.co/PJBKh4rQDZ is a good guide #wyoedchat

drewvanmaanen84 @jpk38 A2) I do believe they should be stand alone classes. Much information provided in those subjects carry high importance.

via Twitter for iPhone (retweeted on 9:35 PM, May 3rd, 2015 via Echofon)

lisah103 great point @MsCrawford101. often plans & implementation are ruined because people/districts tie themselves down to one “program”

via Twitter for iPhone (retweeted on 9:35 PM, May 3rd, 2015 via Echofon)

@tntechgal it definitely is. Schedules are set at the campus level though, and they reflect administrator priorities…

via Echofon in reply to tntechgal

@jpk38 A3 officially I’m sure we do, but I have no idea how our tech plan guides us on a day-to-day basis

via Echofon in reply to jpk38

jpk38 Q3. Does your school have a tech vision/plan? District? State? ( @jillian4supt)

via Hootsuite (retweeted on 9:32 PM, May 3rd, 2015 via Echofon)

Dawn63Dale Our district does have a Tech Facilitator in every Elem. and we integrate Tech into what teachers are doing in the classroom.

via TweetDeck (retweeted on 9:31 PM, May 3rd, 2015 via Echofon)

@Dawn63Dale that is fantastic! I wish all our schools had technology coaches too!

via Echofon in reply to Dawn63Dale

@KristaSweckard @tntechgal maybe that will change in the future if our schedule changes…

via Echofon in reply to KristaSweckard

@KristaSweckard @tntechgal for us this year, we have not been valued as collaborators with classroom teachers

via Echofon in reply to KristaSweckard

@KristaSweckard @tntechgal 1 of the biggest problems being a “specials T” is that a primary role is to cover teacher conferences

via Echofon in reply to KristaSweckard

@tntechgal ideally, yes. Unfortunately, our schedule this year has been a total nightmare for multiple reasons :-(

via Echofon in reply to tntechgal

@KristaSweckard last semester I saw Ss every other day. Students just have stem for 1 semester though, then they rotate to art

via Echofon in reply to KristaSweckard

@KristaSweckard @YukonDistrict I see each class for 50 minutes a day 2 days in a row, and then other classes the next 2 days.

via Echofon in reply to KristaSweckard

@tntechgal schedule at our school is very isolating, does not encourage collaboration between specials Ts & regular classroom Ts

via Echofon in reply to tntechgal

@AcemtAndrea STEM can be offered as a “special” like PE in elementary everyone takes, and as an elective later

via Echofon in reply to AcemtAndrea

both of our @YukonDistrict grade 4-5 campuses & 1 of 7 elementaries currently have dedicated STEM teachers

via Echofon

A2 yes, STEM should definitely be offered as a separate class. pportunity to completely emphasize STEM activities is essential

via Echofon

@Dawn63Dale awesome, that makes me so happy! :-) @Flipboard is a game changer!
